Stage 1 – Skills Assessment

Before anything else, your occupation has to be recognised in Australia. An assessing body (e.g., VETASSESS/TRA/Engineers Australia) checks your qualifications and work history. You’ll usually provide references, detailed duties, certificates/transcripts, and—if needed—an English test (UK passport holders are generally exempt from the basic requirement but can earn extra points with a high score).

No positive assessment = no skilled visa pathway.

Stage 2 – Expression of Interest (EOI)

Your EOI in SkillSelect is your line-up ticket—not a visa. It displays your points (age, English, qualifications, experience, partner skills, state nomination, etc.). Invitations are offered based on points and demand; some arrive in months, others take longer, and some don’t arrive.

Why it matters
A precise, well-evidenced EOI maximises your chances and avoids problems later.

Common pitfalls we prevent

• Over-claiming points you can’t later prove
• Ignoring state nomination pathways and ROIs
• Letting details go out of date

Stage 3 – Visa Application

When an invitation lands, the visa application must exactly match your EOI claims, with full documents. Health checks and police clearances are required; biometrics may be requested.

Why it matters
Inconsistencies between EOI and visa can cause delays—or refusals.
